What is BOTOX?

Whether we like it or not, wrinkles start to become a concern for many of us as early as our 30s. As we age, this worry rarely wanes; in fact, it often worsens as the lines and dynamic wrinkles throughout our faces become more pronounced and distracting. While wrinkles are natural and bound to occur at some point throughout our lives, it is possible (and even simple) to slow down the aging process with the help of BOTOX Cosmetic at RareV. Our Las Vegas, NV practice is thrilled to offer this highly effective and world-renown product to men and women alike.

BOTOX is crafted from a strain of type A botulinum toxin that temporarily blocks the movements of the muscles in the face that work to create expressions in the forehead area. By freezing these underlying muscles, this advanced wrinkle relaxer can dramatically decrease the development of fine lines and wrinkles on the forehead, allowing the skin on top to still appear smooth as you express yourself throughout your day.

What are the benefits of BOTOX?

Fine lines and wrinkles occur when the facial muscles contract to create expressions like smiling or squinting. Over time, these contractions etch lines into the skin. BOTOX temporarily relaxes these muscles and provides a youthful appearance you love. Patients choose to work with our team at RareV because we know how to provide natural-looking results that still allow you to express your emotions. We are dedicated to helping you achieve smoother skin without invasive measures or plastic surgery.

BOTOX injections are ideal for individuals who would like to smooth out the appearance of lines on their face with a simple, nonsurgical solution. This treatment can be wonderful for patients of a variety of ages, even those as young as 30 who would like to get a head start on slowing the natural aging process. BOTOX Cosmetic can be a wonderful option for those whose foreheads are incredibly active as they make expressions. These lines can present themselves as horizontal folds or vertical wrinkles between the brows. To accurately determine if you're a candidate for this treatment, you will need to attend a consultation with a member of our aesthetic team.

how are botox injections done?

BOTOX treatments are completed in one of our private treatment rooms at RareV. If it is your first time to visit us in Las Vegas, NV to get BOTOX, we often perform the injection on the same appointment as your consultation. You will be asked to make different expressions using the upper face, such as squinting, frowning, etc., to help us to determine where the injections would be best placed. This product is most commonly applied between the eyebrows, on the Crow's feet, and along the forehead.

After your skin is cleared of any oil, dirt, and makeup, BOTOX will be injected under the skin with a fine needle, followed by a cool compress to help lessen discomfort, swelling, and bruising. You can request a numbing cream to help make the procedure more comfortable, but this usually is not necessary. BOTOX treatments typically take about 10 – 15 minutes to complete. Once your session is over, you may return to your usual activities with no needed recovery period or downtime.

After your procedure, you may return to your daily schedule. However, strenuous activities like exercise should be skipped for a minimum of 24 hours. You will be advised to sleep with your head propped up for the first night and to not touch your face since doing this may accidentally spread the BOTOX to other areas. The injected sections of the skin can appear bruised, red, or swollen for a couple of days, but you will not develop any long-lasting or serious side effects. In most cases, it often takes about 5 – 7 days before the final effects of BOTOX become visible. The results usually last 3 – 4 months. You can speak to your injector about how often to make a follow-up appointment at RareV to maintain your results.

How many BOTOX units/injections will I likely need?
The number of BOTOX treatments administered will vary based on individual needs and the depth and severity of your lines. Our team will recommend the correct number of BOTOX units based on your treatment outcomes and whether you want to treat the brow area, forehead, or Crow's feet. To keep up with your aesthetic results, our practitioners might suggest getting BOTOX services every few months at RareV.

Can I have BOTOX other cosmetic treatments?
BOTOX procedures often pair well with other nonsurgical services at RareV for those who prefer to address signs of aging. If you experience deeper and more extensive lines and wrinkles, our aesthetic team might suggest adding a dermal filler to help you achieve optimal results. To further enhance your younger-looking appearance, we may discuss additional complementary treatments, including facials or PRP with microneedling.

What's the variation between fillers and wrinkle relaxers?
Although wrinkle reducers, such as BOTOX Cosmetic, are provided to minimize fine lines by temporarily preventing your muscle contractions, fillers are a different category of aesthetic injections that enhance volume in the face. Fillers are designed to add volume to hollow features and reduce static wrinkles. Our team can discuss if you may be a good candidate for a filler (like Restylane® or JUVÉDERM®) to further enhance your BOTOX outcomes.
