What is Microneedling?
If over-the-counter skin treatments aren't effective, but you don't want surgery, learn more about minimally invasive procedures for skin rejuvenation like microneedling. At RareV, our aesthetic team is happy to perform microneedling (also known as collagen induction therapy) at our office in Las Vegas, NV. Microneedling uses multiple fine needles to effectively and safely create micro-injuries in the skin. The micro-injuries prompt the natural production of collagen and elastin, two nutrients that increase the appearance and health of your skin. Easily combined with other skin treatments, like serums or PRP (platelet-rich plasma), microneedling can help reduce pores, stretch marks, and scars. Make an appointment for a consultation at RareV to hear more about the results of microneedling and how to personalize your procedure for your skin concerns and goals.

What are the Benefits of Microneedling?
Microneedling can be used to improve the appearance of several skin concerns when over-the-counter treatments and at-home remedies are not effective. Patients choose RareV because our team offers custom treatments designed to address each individual’s unique skin concerns. Microneedling can:
- Soften fine lines and wrinkles
- Minimize scars (including acne scars)
- Reduce enlarged pores
- Brighten dull skin
- Even skin texture
- Fade dark spots and hyperpigmentation
- Improve skin health overall
Who is a Candidate for microneedling?
It's possible you could benefit from microneedling treatments if you have light to mild skin problems, like rough skin texture or low elasticity. Collagen induction therapy procedures can also reduce the appearance of stretch marks, scars, and pores. You should be willing to wait before seeing improvements from your microneedling procedure since the collagen and elastin will need time to have an impact on the complexion; however, you will have natural-looking results and gain better overall skin health.
How does Microneedling work?
Collagen induction therapy with microneedling is performed in a private treatment room in around 30 – 60 minutes with local anesthesia or numbing cream if preferred; however, patients generally feel little or no discomfort. The skin being addressed will be cleaned before the handpiece is evenly passed over. After the microneedling is performed, a topical treatment such as platelet-rich plasma (PRP) or serum with a vitamin infusion can be applied for deeper penetration of the nutrients into the skin. A moisturizer selected for your skin type will be massaged in along with sun protection because the treated skin will be more sensitive following the procedure.
What can I Expect after Microneedling?
After your treatment, you might develop some swelling and redness for about a day; however, this should subside on its own. It can take around 1 – 2 months as the collagen and elastin supply increases until you notice visible changes in the health and appearance of your complexion. You should plan to get around 4 – 6 maintenance sessions every 4 – 6 weeks for ideal results and long-term skin health.
Frequently Asked Questions
How much does microneedling cost?
During your consultation, our team will analyze your skin and then develop your unique plan. Once this is complete, we will be able to explain your costs and what to expect during the procedure. RareV frequently offers specials on treatment packages, so be sure to ask about our current deals during your appointment.
What exactly is microneedling?
Microneedling, also known as collagen induction therapy, is a nonsurgical treatment to rejuvenate your skin. A natural fibrous protein, collagen helps keep your skin supple, smooth, and firm. Eventually, your stores of collagen are reduced, and your skin gets thin and less elastic. Microneedling makes small skin wounds. These micro-injuries cause your skin to generate new skin cell growth and increase collagen production. After a short recovery period, your skin is firmer, brighter, and healthier.
Can I combine other treatments with microneedling?
In the process of microneedling, channels are created in your skin that make it easier for treatments to reach the deeper layers. That's why microneedling is commonly combined before other treatments, like vitamin-rich serums or PRP (platelet-rich plasma). Microneedling plus PRP has become known as the Vampire Facial®. During your initial consultation, we can explain which treatments would enhance your microneedling and which best fit your skin goals.
How many treatments are recommended for optimal results?
Most patients receive 3 – 6 sessions to achieve their best results. Although, the number of treatments you need will depend on the condition of your skin and your goals. Microneedling can be safely performed every 4 – 6 weeks. During your initial consultation, Dr. Singh will estimate how many sessions you will want after assessing your skin and listening to your goals. When your skin goals are reached, our team suggests scheduling maintenance sessions about twice a year.
Is microneedling safe for everyone?
On the whole, microneedling is safe for all skin tones and types. Skin injuries created by microneedling are so minor there are very few side effects after the treatment. Microneedling can be performed on most skin areas, including the arms, face, neck, chest, and legs. Microneedling isn't recommended if you have been on Accutane within the last 2 – 3 months, plus if you have an active skin infection, open wound, or herpes simplex. In addition, you may not be able to get microneedling if you are nursing, pregnant, or undergoing radiation treatments.
